Recently, the Beijing Natural Science Foundation announced the evaluation results of key research projects for the year 2024. After online evaluation, on-site defense and other stages, the "XXX Computing Architecture Research" project participated by SINSEGYE was awarded the project approval.

-Project Background

 

With the arrival of the Industry 4.0 era, industrial perception capabilities have significantly improved, and various sensors and IoT devices have been widely deployed, leading to explosive growth in data volume. Meanwhile, the diverse application scenarios and increasingly complex business requirements pose unprecedented challenges to computing power.

 

Currently, traditional computing architectures are inadequate in the face of massive data processing and high concurrency computing tasks, and computing power has become a key bottleneck restricting the development of industrial intelligence. In this context, the "XXX Computing Architecture Research" project has emerged, aiming to bring revolutionary changes to the industrial computing field through innovative technological research and development.

 

-Project significance

 

The core of this project is to explore and build a new computing architecture that aims to achieve a perfect balance between high performance and flexibility. Specifically, the project revolves around the following aspects:

 

1. Research and Development of Ultra Heterogeneous Computing Architecture

 

By integrating multiple computing units, constructing a hyper heterogeneous computing architecture, fully utilizing the advantages of different computing units, and achieving a balance between high performance and flexibility in computing.

 

2. Development of Highly Integrated, Flexible, and Reliable Computing Payloads

 

In response to the specific needs of industrial computing, the project will develop a series of computing payloads with the above characteristics. These loads will be able to operate stably in complex and ever-changing industrial environments, providing strong support for various industrial computing tasks.

 

3. Innovation in Software Defined Operating Systems

 

In order to better adapt to diverse industrial computing tasks, the project will research and develop a software defined operating system that dynamically adjusts and optimizes computing resource allocation according to the needs of different application scenarios, improving the overall efficiency and flexibility of the system.

On August 23, 2024, the website of the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission released a notice on the proposed funding projects of the Beijing Natural Science Foundation Joint Fund for 2024. The research project "XXX Computing Architecture Research" by SINSEGYE has been approved for the Beijing Natural Science Foundation.

The participants in this project include the Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, SINSEGYE, Beijing Zhiyuan Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Beijing Institute of Space Electromechanical Technology.

 

This project gathers top resources in the fields of national intelligent computing and large-scale modeling, forming a model of deep integration of industry, academia, and research. Relying on the strong strength of multiple top research institutes, it not only has advanced research and development capabilities, but also is equipped with comprehensive and precise space environment experimental conditions, ensuring the scientific and practical aspects of the project are equally emphasized.
